Le Monacelle, building of XVI century, was anciently the Conservatory of Santa Maria of Pietà. This Convent, restaured in 2000 to became an accomodation an congressual structure of beauty, is located inside the complex of Sasso Barisano characterized by the canyon digged through the Torrent Gravina visible directly from the overhang terraces of the Hostel. Impossible to list all the sites and the monuments in the Sassi, considered by the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Humanity and don't miss also the visit at the near Chiostro di Sant'Eustachio and Cathedral, at the Church of San Giuseppe and, using the several guided visit, at the Parchi della Murgia and at the Chiese Rupestri.
Near the Matera's Cathedral , there is this ancient hostel, hosted in convent made of stones; eight minute walk from it there is the National Museum of Medieval and Modern Art of Basilicata
